Meet your doula
Being a doula isn’t just a job to me , it’s a calling.
ABOUT ME.
ABOUT ME.
MY journey to becoming a CERTIFIED doula
My path to becoming a Doula started as far back as I can remember. I have always been drawn to babies and birth, having gotten my “babysitting license” at age 9 and witnessing my first birth at age 11. Life has always drawn me to childcare in one form or another. After receiving my Bachelors Degree in 2012, I began a journey in Nursing school with the intention of pursuing Labor and Delivery care. I quickly realized I craved a deeper desire to connect and help families on a continuous and more personal level. In January of 2015, I completed my training as a Full Spectrum (both birth and postpartum) Doula in Marin County with Doula Trainings International.
At the onset of COVID-19, with a shifting world and birthing environment, I had to evaluate my role in the birth world. Since most hospitals were not allowing Doula’s in at the time, and most Childbirth Education classes provided by the hospitals had been cancelled, I decided to dive into Childbirth Education myself, with a Childbirth Education (CBE) training with Doula Trainings International. I have a deep love for education and empowerment and this course has expanded the way in which I am able to support my clients.

Because I’m all about Education here
In March of 2016, I felt the need to expand on my postpartum practice and began my certification with The Artemis School. This program is a full spectrum training on holistic menstrual and sexual wellness. Not only did it expand the ways in which I can support the postpartum person, it stirred up and desire in me to inform and education women and people with uteruses in all phases of their life; from sexual education, menstrual health, pregnancy prevention or achievement to menopause. I am deeply passionate about empowering folks through education and a deep connection to their bodies and cycles.
“Dana is AMAZING! We interviewed 4 doulas and she was the clear winner. Plus, my husband was pretty skeptical about getting a doula at all until he talked to Dana and then he was completely sold. He was particularly happy with her approach to working with partners: supporting the couple as a unit and hanging back at certain times so he and I could have intimate moments along the labor journey.
Ultimately, Dana ended up being one of the best investments we made in our labor/birth experience. She was genuinely interested in all our hopes, fears and plans for the birth and committed everything to memory easily. She was a calm, knowledgable presence throughout labor and delivery. Also, she is the reason we didn't have our son at home or in the car- she recognized that I'd skipped a stage of labor and coolly, but assertively, directed us to leave home immediately. We made it to the birth center about 20min before delivering. She also snapped the most gorgeous and dramatic birth photos imaginable!
Her postpartum care was invaluable. She helped with breastfeeding, soothing the baby, reading his body language and walked us through his first bath. Our new family is much better for having her in our lives!”
